I am a Tar Heel, born and bred, growing up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where I live still. I dreamed of being a writer since I learned how to hold a pencil and proudly graduated from Carolina as an English major. My love of stories has served me well in various career fields - as medical editor, reading teacher, entrepreneur, business owner, tour director, and the very best job of all - mom and grandmother. I lived for a time in Boston with my childhood pal to get a big city experience and delight in traveling and exploring. Children, education, and equity are my driving passions.
When my dad, Maurice, passed away, I stepped in to run our family’s clothing store, Julian’s, where I literally grew up. My husband, Michael, joined me and, for the next 15+ years, we happily ran the store, raised our kids, and expanded our love of this town and campus. My son and my brother now keep Julian’s thriving, as we celebrate 80 years on Franklin Street. Hooray!
Oh, there are stories to tell! I look forward to exchanging some with you!
